Only 15 days until Christmas!! I had great intentions of blogging regularly on our fab new website, but time seems to have been running away from me! We have been busy, busy, busy welcoming people to the farm. It has been lovely to see so many people coming to hunt down their third Christmas Tree from us (for those new to Ty Cerrig, we only started selling our Trees in 2011), and to meet lots of new people too.
So many of you have been telling us that you have been looking for somewhere like Ty Cerrig for years, that you used to go with your parents to places where Trees were cut down fresh when you were children….we are so pleased that we can help you to re-create those family traditions. Others have arrived wanting to establish new traditions for their own children…we hope that they will enjoy and remember their explorations and adventures amongst our Christmas Trees for many years.
For our family, new traditions are also being created…December has become the month when our kitchen turns into a cloud of flour and icing sugar on Friday and Saturday evenings as our daughter bakes cakes and biscuits to earn herself a little extra pocket money at the weekend. Our 7 year old son spends his free time at weekends hauling trees through the netting machine (usually wearing sporting kit – football on Saturdays, rugby on Sundays). This year, he has also set up his own enterprise making and selling birdboxes – last minute Christmas presents anyone?! We also have friends who now choose to visit us during December so that they can stand in a field all day, lugging big, green, often spiky trees around (yes, really!).
However, our old tradition of putting up the Christmas Tree just a few days before Christmas Eve remains. So once we have helped everyone to find their own Tree, helped strap it safely into or onto their cars and waved them off, we will be going for a quiet walk, just the four of us and the dogs, to search for our own Christmas Tree…
